City Workers Damage BMX 1/4's, Tables + Pyramid BMX'r Mike Battiston describes damage to BMX Bike Park that occurred Sept 23. City Workers moved the centre section of the BMX Bike Park on Tuesday September 23, 2008 trying to locate a pressure leak in the underground refrgeration system for the outdoor skating rink that the BMX Bike park has been sitting on for the summer of 2007 and 2008. In the moving process, a careless forklift driver damaged a number of tables, 1/4 ramps and the pyramid. The people in charge have been spoken with, and have indicated that they will pay to repair the damage. More added work and worry for Mike Heaton to have the pieces rebuilt in time for Toronto BMX Jam '09 at the Direct Energy Centre in March, 2009. All of the BMX Bike Park ramps will be moved off site with tractor trailer trucks on Monday Sept 29/08 into storage until an indoor location can be secured. Youth and community volunteers are asked to come down to the park Saturday and Sunday afternoons to help Mike Heaton disassemble the park. A cordless drill with a #2 Robertson (square) bit is a handy tool for those coming to help.
